Rivers said the Cumberland CID was still working on closing a $5 million gap to complete the trail, adding she would like to see it done as soon as possible. “In general, people, and by people I mean businesses as well, are looking more at amenities in the market … so the recreational element is really what sets our community apart,” said Malaika Rivers, executive director of the Cumberland CID. The first two miles of the trail, south of Interstate 285, were completed nearly 10 years ago and have since become a popular destination for residents and visitors alike.
